Thanking the Stars

StarSantaOrnament

With the holiday season upon us, I would like to take the time to express appreciation to the people who follow A Taste of Morning and thereby inspire me to keep doing the blog,  to the bloggers whose photos and essays I enjoy so very much, and to those who have kindly nominated this blog for awards. Thank you and may your holidays be filled with peace and joy!

………………………..

Every now and then someone nominates A Taste of Morning for an award, most recently Christina from ChristinaSandru and Lonnie from The Belmont Rooster. These people have themselves received awards for their interesting blogs for which they are to be congratulated.

It pleases me when I learn that someone enjoys my posts enough to nominate this blog in return, even  though a while back, for various reasons, I stopped participating in the awards process.  I can’t possibly list all of the blogs that I like, but here are a foodie blogs that you might enjoy given that the holidays are a time for entertaining.

Food/Wine & Spirits/Entertaining Blogs

Thank You Flowers

Recently several people have kindly nominated A Taste of Morning for awards. In thanks, here are some pictures that I have recently taken of wildflowers out on the Konza Prairie. I thought this would be a fun way to acknowledge those readers who have shown such warm support! Thank you to Diana Staresinic-Deane for the Reader Appreciation Award, to  Share Chair for the Beautiful Blogger Award, to Letizia from Reading Interrupted for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award nominations.* You should check out these blogs. Diana writes about Kansas, Share Chair about technology (especially iPad and iPhone), and Letizia about reading, writing, and related topics.

Here are a few blogs that I really enjoy following and that I would like to nominate for an award. I think that all of them deserve a Reader Appreciation Award; and some are inspiring, some are beautiful; some are both! (I’ll let them decide which should they choose to accept.) The people behind these all bring enthusiasm, effort, and a special perspective to their work.

* Rules …

Reader Appreciation Award: Post link to the person who nominated you; include a picture of the award on your blog; nominate some other bloggers for the award; tell 7 things about yourself.

Beautiful Blogger Award: Post link to the person who nominated you; include a picture of the award on your blog; nominate 15 other bloggers for the award; tell 7 things about yourself.

Very Inspiring Blogger Award: Post link to the person who nominated you; include a picture of the award on your blog; nominate 7 other bloggers for the award; tell 7 things about yourself.

On a personal note …

Having accepted blogger awards several times now – each time quite happily and feeling flattered – I feel that it would be selfish of me to continue to do so. Hence, I humbly request that if you enjoy A Taste of Morning, that you simply send me a note letting me know. I hope that this does not sound presumptuous or offend anyone. Thank you kindly to all of you who have shown your support!

Thank You to A Touch of the Divine & to Blessed with a Star on the Forehead

Thank to you Michelle from A Touch of the Divine for including me in her list of nominees for The Versatile Blogger Award. Michelle is from Alberta, Canada and describes her mission with her  photography blog as “searching for the Extra in the ordinary.” She does a wonderful job of exactly that! I quite enjoy her blog.

Thank you also to Blessed with a Star on the Forehead for including me in her list of nominees for the Sunshine Blogger Award. Blessed with a Star on the Forehead is about a middle-aged woman’s search for inspiration and is filled with honesty and positive thinking. I appreciate the keep on keeping on attitude of it!

I was pleased and touched by both of these nominations. I take A Taste of Morning seriously and it is nice to be appreciated!
The Versatile Blogger Award requires stating 7 things about oneself and the Sunshine Blogger Award requires stating 10. So here are 10 things about me:
(1) I’m a morning person.
(2) I once was a research subject in a Horticultural Therapy study on the effect of plants on well-being in the workplace.
(3) I’m all for plants in the workplace.
(4) I’ve been to 3 countries outside the U.S.
(5) I played intramural inner-tube water polo in graduate school.
(6) My husband and I once went to sushi school for vacation.
(7) I have one cousin that I’ve never met.
(8) Every now and then I listen to disco music.
(9) My youngest friend is in her early 20’s.
(10) My oldest friend is in her early 90’s.
The Versatile Blogger Award requires nominating 15 bloggers and the Sunshine Blogger Award requires nominating 10. So, here are 15 blogs that I follow – listed in no particular order – and that I nominate for whichever of the awards they feel best suits them. Thanks for your work everyone! I believe that it is also tradition to post something on the blogs of those you have nominated to let them know of the honor and if you accept the award to paste its image on your blog.

The Harder I Work, The Luckier I Get: Thank you to Beyond the Green Door

Kenley and “L” from Beyond The Green Door have nominated me for an Illuminating Blogger Award. Thank you! I am so very pleased with the positive response that A Taste of Morning has received. I work hard on the blog and yet sometimes am amazed that anyone has discovered it. There are so many wonderful bloggers out there with interesting ideas and beautiful images. I am delighted to be a part of this community. I learn much both from putting together my posts and from those of the blogs (such as Beyond the Green Door) that I follow. Thank you again, Kenley and L, for your support in nominating me for this award.

The rules: (1) thank the person who nominated you for the award; (2) share one random thing about yourself; (3) nominate five other bloggers that you think deserve this award.

One Random Thing About Me:

My favorite color is aqua.

Five Illuminating Bloggers:

Yippee and Thank you to Bebe’s Kitchen!

Bebe from bebeskitchen.wordpress.com just nominated me for the  One Lovely Blog Award and the Very Inspiring Blogger Award. I am tickled! I’ve seen other blogs that I enjoy following receive these – including Bebe’s Kitchen – and I am pleased to be similarly regarded. I feel like I have learned a lot about this medium in a short time from reading other blogs … and, of course, I am still learning. I put a lot of work into A Taste of Morning. If I had known how much I would enjoy blogging and following other bloggers, I would have started this a long time ago. It has, literally, opened up a whole new world for me as I follow writers, photographers, adventurers, cooks, gardeners and other interesting people from around the globe.

One of the rules (presented below) is to nominate 15 other bloggers for these awards. (I am a little confused about whether I am supposed to have one or two lists – and I am not sure that I could have separated them, so I combined the two. If I have done this incorrectly, forgive me.) I had difficulty narrowing down my list of nominees to 15 bloggers. There are some blogs (e.g. doliphoto.com) that I follow that I know have received these awards recently and so even though I would have like to have included them, I did not put them on my list. Once again, I am thrilled to be a part of this wonderful community!

The Rules:

(1) Thank the person who nominated you and link back to them in your post.

(2) Share 7 things about yourself.

(3) Nominate 15 bloggers you admire.

(4) Leave a comment on each letting them know they have been nominated.

Seven Things About Me That You Probably Don’t Know From My Blog:

(1) I have had Boston Terriers for more than a quarter of a century.

(2) My husband was the first person I met after moving to Kansas.

(3) My favorite movie is Cinema Paradiso.

(4) I love learning about almost anything.

(5) I am a science fiction junkie.

(6) I love dancing.

(7) My nicknames are “Pepper” and “Doc”.
