With temperatures soaring in Kansas today, it is no wonder this little cardinal decided to treat himself to a cool bath this morning. Doesn’t that look refreshing?
There it is again! Your beautiful fountain. Cardinals are my favorite bird. I remember living in Arkansas as a little girl and seeing them there. We don’t have them here in the Pacific Northwest. Your photos brought a smile to my face.
It must be scorching hot for this cardinal to really get a big dose of a shower. You’re very lucky to have captured it.
It was 99 degrees the day that I took that photo. We generally have a lot of avian activity around the fountain, but that guy really went to town : )

I am surprised that you don’t have cardinals in the Northwest. I bet that you have lots of other wonderful birds to watch!
Have a nice day!
He looks like he’s enjoying himself immensely! Great captures! 🙂
Thanks, Sheryl! It is fun to watch birds bathe in the fountain!
And we get pigeons and crows in ours!
We are lucky. We have quite a few colorful birds. The cardinals are my favorites, though.
Clever exposures. Lovely pictures.
Thank you Mr. Tootlepedal. I always enjoy your bird photos!
Your birds are more colourful than ours.
