The light in my shade garden was just beautiful this morning. I loved the way the faded leaves of my “Garnet” Japanese Maple looked against the blue-shadowed snow.

A Taste of Morning 
I’ve seen that kind of tree before, but didn’t know it was called a Japanese Maple.
Yes. This particular variety is called “Garnet”. Its leaves are bright red in spring, green in winter, deep red in autumn, and pale red to pink to beige in the winter. So it is quite interesting : )

Yes, we’re staying warm. We’ve picked up a quick three inches of snow this morning, with more deep freeze temps settling in tonight. Compared with the Upper Midwest, we’ll be quite balmy.
